Social Media & Communications Intern
Description
We are looking to hire an intern with strong knowledge and understanding of the digital media landscape, including various social media websites. We are a young organization that is currently redesigning our website, and will soon launch an environmental, social media campaign. The intern hired for this position will need strong critical thinking skills in order to integrate into our vibrant and passionate team. The intern will be working primarily with the Communications Director in hopes of gaining great online experience and benefiting from this exciting launch.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to website redesign and online projects in various ways
- Monitor and post on blogs, forums, and social networks
- Online outreach and promotion using Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, Twitter, and more
- Social media optimization
- Keyword analysis
- Cost/benefit analysis
- Education: Currently enrolled in or recently completed bachelor’s degree with a major or related course work in communications, English, marketing, business or related field. A related associate's degree or course of study with one year experience in communications or marketing could be substituted for the above degree requirements.
- Experience: Interest or studies in public relations, marketing/advertising or equivalent preferred.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills
- The ability to " think outside the box"
- Can work independently
- Excellent attention to detail
- Experience with InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, & Dreamweaver.
- Able to dedicate 10-15 hours per week
- Marketing savvy, creativity and forward thinking
- Social media/networking website user
- Graphic design and basic HTML knowledge is helpful

Development Intern
Description
We are looking for someone to assist in all aspects of SEEDlings' fundraising efforts, including developing strategies for individual donor solicitation; identifying major gift prospects; preparing grant proposals and reports; seeking corporate donations; and coordinating special events. The Development Intern also assists with public relations and communications.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research on public and private agencies and identify new sources of funding
- Education: Currently enrolled in or recently completed bachelor’s degree with a major or related course work in marketing, communications or any social science related field. A related associate's degree or course of study with one year experience in sales or marketing could be substituted for the above degree requirements.
- Experience: Interest or studies in public relations, marketing/advertising or equivalent preferred. Prior clerical or administrative support experience in a training, education or cultural environment a plus. Strong writing and editing skills are required.
- High degree of flexibility and ability to juggle multiple tasks and competing priorities.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
- Ability to demonstrate cultural competency in working with diverse populations.
Duration: Three, six, or nine months
